ABOUT
ABOUT LAKISHA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been in private practice here in Warner Robins since 2012 and previously in the states of Maryland and Texas. Over the past 25+ years, I have provided mental health services in a variety of settings to include therapeutic foster care, school social work, outpatient mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation, private practice and military mental health and family advocacy clinics. I have many years of professional and personal experience with the military.
I approach counseling from what is known as an eclectic position, meaning I enjoy working with very diverse groups of individuals utilizing therapy approaches that best suit their needs. However, I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral techniques to assist clients with identifying the link between their thoughts and feelings and how both affect their behavior and the decisions they make.
I offer faith based Christian counseling. My faith in God and the Bible as well as my education, training and experience is the foundation for my work. I believe that through Christ all things are possible. Therefore, I incorporate God and biblical principles into sessions when and if the client is open to it. However, I do respect those who do not share my beliefs and work with them accordingly. In working with clients, I believe it is important to start where the client is and counseling is approached from an open and non-judgmental perspective. I feel it is important to assist clients with becoming healthier individuals in every area of their lives, to include physical, emotional, and spiritual. I passionately believe that therapy can improve and heal lives and relationships.
